I just wanted to show everyone the pineapple that I grew as a houseplant. I do take it outside in the spring and leave it until there is a frost advisory. It has fruited once before this current crop. As you can see after it fruited the last time it made a bunch of new shoots. There are two pineapples on the plant at this time, well one because I just picked the biggest one. The last time the pineapple was the best I have ever tasted. I hope this one tastes just as good. I grow the plant in a spare southwest facing room that stays a little cool. The room has an 8' sliding glass door, so the plant gets plenty of light. I did read something about someone growing a banana in St. Marys a while back. Has anyone else has luck growing any exotic plants indoors in Ohio, or outdoors for that matter?

| Hi. I have a lot of indoor plants. I use to have a problem with this white/yellowish crust forming on the surface of my plants. For about the past 5 years I have been using the condensate off of my condensing furnace to water the plants once I bring them indoors in the winter. It doesn't seem to have any detrimental affects on the plants. I think it is free of the chemicals that are in water, whether it is city water or treated country water. If you have a condensing furnace you might want to give it a try. Michael

Hi, I started a few new pineapple plants from the offshoots that the original plant produced. Here is one of offshoots of the pineapple plant that bore fruit. I planted it last spring in its own pot. It was on the patio in mostly full sun all last summer. I noticed a flower bud last December. It was a new pineapple starting to grow. It is mid January now and I don't know how it will fare growing in a window in mid winter, but I will keep you informed. Thanks, Michael

Hi, Well the pineapple finally got ripe after about 8 months. The aroma is super. I haven't cut it open to There is another pineapple plant with the bud of another pineapple. I don't know how it will do trying to mature during the winter. I will find out all too soon. Thanks, Michael
